Pastoral Care

All our staff work together to provide a safe and caring learning environment for our pupils. We would ask parents to keep contact information up to date by informing the school of any changes.

Please assist us by noting these procedures:

Sickness

When a child is sick at school (without becoming seriously ill) we will attempt to contact the parent.

Accident & Emergency

If we have concerns of a child’s illness or injury, we will contact the parent / guardian as soon as possible and, if necessary, call an ambulance.

Medication

Teachers are not permitted to administer any medication to children. If any child is required to take medication during school hours, parents must contact the principal in order to make satisfactory arrangements.

Finish Time

If a child is to be released from school earlier than the normal finishing time, the class teacher should be informed either in person or by a note. A child will not be released unless this procedure is followed. Teachers should also be informed of any change to the normal arrangements for collection of children at their usual home time. A note or telephone call would avoid any undue distress to the child or confusion for the school. This is particularly important in the early years of school.

Absences

If a child is absent from school for any reason, a note must be sent in prior to planned absence or upon a child’s return to school. The school is required to account for all absences, so parents will be contacted if no explanations for absences are received by school.

In every case, the school will act in the best interests of the child.
