In Primary 1 we are making lots of new friends. We are having lots of fun during play. One of our favourite things to do is go into the playroom with Mrs Lynn. We play in the Home Corner, Bob’s Garage and the Puppet Theatre. We love seeing how high we can build the polystyrene bricks!
We have been tasting food – apples, carrots and we even made pumpkin soup! It was delicious.
During play we have been using Numicon, Cuisenaire and the Interactive Whiteboard. We all painted ourselves and a friend. We also lined up in order of height. Miss Stirling drew around Daniel, who was the shortest and Lewis, who was the tallest. We all painted a bit each.
Everyday we have Taskboard. We take part in letter activities using sorting trays, playdough, magnetic letters and whiteboards. We have also been practising our cutting, colouring, reading and writing. The children in our class are really good at building jigsaws too!
We have been working really hard on numbers from 0 to 5. We make sets, number lines and play games with our partners. We have also made some super patterns using different colours, shapes, sizes and even ourselves!
We have lots of visitors in P1. Gillian from Jo Jingles comes on Tuesdays every other week for music activities. We sing, dance, use the parachute and instruments and learn about musical notes. Jess and Simon from Coaching for Christ come to school every Thursday and teach us football skills. One visit we look forward to each Friday is our visit from our P7 Buddies! We love reading books and playing games with them.
Every Monday in P1 we take the opportunity in Circle Time to share our weekend news. We also send home an ‘All About Me’ bag with one person each weekend to bring in something special to show the class.
