P7 have been studying the topic of Fair Trade this term.
We researched the plight of banana farmers in Colombia.
In Drama class we acted out a play about the supply chain of this popular fruit.
We learned all about the role of the exporter, importer, ripener and retailer.
The story Foncho, a Colombian farmer was used as the basis of our drama.
We researched the benefits of the Fair Trade organisation in giving farmers a fair price for their produce.
Everybody now recognises the Fair Trade logo and we are on the look-out for Fair Trade products in the shops.
Fair Trade chocolate was the number one choice in P7K!
P7K Shapes up!
Primary 7s have been collaborating in Maths lessons to identify shapes from clues about the properties of 2D shapes.
They have been using the Talk it, Ask it, Solve it method to compete against other groups in the class.
Two heads are always better that one!
There are many sleuths in P7 this term, all writing spy thrillers in Literacy time. We have had Sky Doll, (abseiling of course), James Blond (Shaken, not stirred) and Savannah Sniper working out of Buick HQ.
The Great Debate
Parliament Week has provided the stimulus for out debating teams.
We are debating ‘Mobile phones, Good or Bad’ and ‘Children should wear uniforms to school’.
These are all topics which have provoked lively debate.
The favourite time of the week is a trip to see out P1 Buddies. Reading, Maths games and outdoor activities are all part of the fun.
