P1 – Pumpkin Soup
This week we made pumpkin soup in P1. Miss Stirling had all the ingredients prepared and we talked about each one. We added these to the saucepan and gave them a good stir. Some of us had a go at cutting up different vegetables. Miss Stirling needed her goggles as the onions were too strong for her eyes!! The soup was blended together. It tasted delicious! The children sequenced the pictures and together we wrote some instructions. We also completed a tree diagram to show who liked the soup. Maybe some parents could have a go at home as most of our children loved this. See recipe below.
Pumpkin Soup Ingredients: 1x 15ml cooking oil, 25g butter, 1 onion (chopped), 3 carrots (chopped), 2 potatoes (chopped) , 375g pumpkin flesh, Seasoning 900ml veg stock (2 stock pots)
Method Heat the oil and butter in a large saucepan, add the onion and fry until softened. Do not brown the onion.
Add the remaining vegetables and stir well. Add salt, pepper and stock. Bring to boil.
Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
Puree, then return to pan and reheat before serving.
Enjoy 🙂
