Heartstart Celebrations at Buick
Tuesday 28th March saw a day of celebration for parents and pupils at Buick Memorial Primary School. Over one hundred children from Primaries 6 and 7 received their Heartstart Certificates from Mrs Bernie McKenna, a Heartstart trainer. Heartstart is an organisation dedicated to teaching basic first aid. During the last term, the children have been working hard to learn a wide range of life saving skills: signs of a heart attack; what to do if someone is choking; how to deal with bleeding and, of course, how to carry out CPR. On Tuesday afternoon, they were able to try out their new skills on their parents and share fun and knowledge. Well done to all our P6 and P7 pupils who completed their Heartstart training. Many thanks to Bernie McKenna for sharing her knowledge with everyone and awarding certificates to all four classes. Thank you to all the parents and family members who came into school to help celebrate their children’s success. It was certainly a most memorable afternoon.
