P6QB
Hello! Welcome to Primary 6QB.
Our teachers this year are Mrs McQuiston and Mrs Beattie. We also have Mrs Steele and Mrs Francey as our classroom assistants.
Primary Six are working really hard this year. Every day we do our spellings, tables and mental maths. We are reading versions of the classics to start us off this year. We have enjoyed Black Beauty and The Wind in the Willows. We are also focusing on our handwriting and have been looking at our joins. We are going to be writing stories using suspense . . . But we can’t tell you too much about them yet.
We love maths in P6 and do lots of daily mental maths challenges. We are counting on, bridging and using partition to name but a few strategies. We have been working hard in a variety of number topics we can order, add, subtract and round numbers right up to millions. We have also been working really hard with telling the time. We also use Mathletics to reinforce our learning in Numeracy. We have already achieved our first certificates. You can do it when you P6QB it!!
Our World Around Us Topic is Victorians in Cullybackey. We very much enjoyed our trip to Cuningham Memorial Church where the Rev Mulholland show us around the church and told us all about its Victorian History. We will be looking at other Victorian buildings in the village and are very excited because Miss Orr is going to working with us in an art project all about Victorian Cullybackey.
