ARC 21 Workshops – Buick saves the Planet!
Noel Lyons from The Arc 21 project came to visit Buick on Friday to complete a series of mini workshops with various classes throughout the school. We were all reminded of the importance of reducing our waste, recycling when possible and re-using materials to make our world a safer and healthier place. Lots of ‘hands on’ learning took place in many fun and innovative activities. Cullybackey got creative!
In Foundation Stage, classes were made aware of the problem of the over-use of plastic pots for gardening. As a clever alternative, the children tried their hand at making paper recyclable pots. Then they planted cress seeds which will be monitored and cared for by the children. We can’t wait for some quick gardening results in the next few days.
In the afternoon, Miss Gibson’s class made Egyptian masks and Mrs Kyle’s class reused some old cardboard in the form of cereal boxes, to design and make Viking swords and shields.
Thanks to Noel Lyons from Mid and East Antrim Council and Arc 21 for a great day making and creating at Buick P.S.
