Roald Dahl Day

The two Primary 6 classes have chosen Roald Dahl as their author of the term. We have been enjoying reading from his range of novels and learning about the unusual characters and the exploits they get up to! We even spent a day dressed as our favourite character!

In addition to our Numeracy and Literacy, we were very fortunate to welcome Miss Orr, our former Vice-Principal, into our classrooms to oversee our Artwork, which is linked to our WAU topic of “Victorians”. We visited the Cuningham Church and Rev. Mulholland expertly drew our attention to the Victorian artefacts around the church building. We learned about the history of one of the most beautiful landmarks in our area.

Following this visit, and under the watchful guidance of Miss Orr, we spent a sunny afternoon in the park producing pencil drawings of the church. We certainly have some budding artists in our midst!

The walk back to school offered many opportunities to identify existing Victoriana in the village and inspire us in our aim to reproduce examples of doors which we formed in clay. These will be attached to boxes or “houses” and each corridor will have its own street of Victorian houses.

A busy but very productive first half term!
