P6 go to Balmoral Show
P6 were one of ten school from across Northern Ireland to be selected to take part in the prestigious Wool Innovators Project.
Wool Innovators is a school based project to help children to learn more about the product wool. It is supported by the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society and The Worshipful Company of Woolmen.
The project involved P6 children investigating the many properties of wool which make it a most versatile fabric which can be used to produce many different products. We decided that wool would be an excellent fabric to make new school jumpers from. We completed lots of science experiments to test the properties of wool. We then explored why wool is such a useful product and designed our own jumpers. These designs were brought to life as we made our own felt jumpers.
Many thanks to Mrs Moffett and Miss Orr who shared their expertise and helped us create brilliant jumpers. The culmination of the project was a free trip to Balmoral Show where we were given the chance to talk to invited guests from the agricultural and wool production sectors about our project. Every child got a chance to explain their work and we were presented with a certificate for all our hard work.
Well done to every Primary Six child who took part in this amazing project.
