Science in P1

Today in Primary One we did something very different. Miss Stirling got her white lab coat out!! First we put on our goggles and listened carefully to our instructions. We made an indicator using red cabbage and warm water. Once the water had turned purple we had to sieve the liquid to separate it from the cabbage. We put it in a test tube using a pipette. We added an acid (vinegar) which changed the colour to pink. Then we added an alkali (baking soda) which caused a reaction. It fizzed up over the tube onto our hands and turned the colour back to purple.
