PTA

The P.T.A. at Buick Memorial gives parents and teachers the opportunity to work alongside one another to raise funds for additional resources. It hopes to build upon relationships between staff, parents, pupils and the community as well as provide a variety of opportunities to enhance the pupils education and to support the school.

Here’s what some of our parents had to say about being part of the P.T.A.

‘The Buick PTA is a great way to get to know other parents and teachers in the school.
As I work full time, I don’t often get the chance to go to the school and I wanted to feel more connected to school activities. The school plays such a large part in the kids’ lives, so it’s good to have input into what activities are arranged, and when they will take place. Our meetings are very informal, the other parents are very friendly and welcoming and there is no pressure to attend or participate in every event. Why not give it a try?’

‘I joined the PTA after moving to the area to enable me to meet other parents and make friends within the school environment as I work full time and am not always able to be at school during the day.  I also feel that it is important to get a feel for what my children are doing at school and in some way give a little back to the school for all the hard work and time they give to our children.  Within the PTA I have made many great friends and I thoroughly enjoy the comradeship that we all get from being part of the group and the fun we have at all our activities and the feeling that we are giving something back not only to the school but our local community.  Being part of the PTA doesn’t take a large volume of our time as from my experience my children are always eager to attend the PTA events and enjoy this social side of the school calendar and as parents we would all be attending these events. It is always nice to see how the funds we raise through PTA are spent and see what a difference this makes to the school and our children.  It is a very enjoyable and rewarding experience and gives a further connection with the school, other parents and teachers.’

Remember YOU are the ‘P’ in P.T.A.!

To keep the P.T.A. going we need parents to support us by:

  • Attending meetings
  • Sharing new ideas
  • Volunteering at events
  • Helping to provide refreshments

The P.T.A. usually meets once every half term to discuss upcoming events and ways to promote your child’s education.

We understand you may not be able to attend every meeting or event but any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
