Buick excel at Ulster Primary Schools Festival

Congratulations to the Buick Rugby Team who played at the Kingspan Stadium (on 12th May). The 9 boys gave their very best effort and won all three of their matches scoring 19 tries and conceding only 6. This is an amazing achievement, considering the majority of the team only started playing rugby 8 weeks ago.

The boys started off their day with a tour of the stadium. They enjoyed seeing the ‘Home ‘and ‘Away’ Changing rooms, the player’s gym, the run out tunnel, subs benches and the player’s ice baths. Lets just say once the boys had put their hands into the baths there were a few screams heard! They finished off the tour with a visit to the Nevin Spence Centre where the boys played on the interactive kicking (Where Mr McClelland kicked 3 out of 3!) and tackling games as well as looking at the history of rugby in Ulster.

The team met Ulster Rugby player Rodney Ah You and saw Rory Best and Ian Henderson training in the gym as they prepare to go on the Lions tour of New Zealand.

It was a very enjoyable day and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the boys and the parents who came to support the team. Not many people can say their first game of rugby was played at the Kingspan!
